Neighborhood Watch (2026)
Neighborhood Watch (2026)
Artist: Kristen Sandlin
Medium: Paint on Concrete
Location: Kimbrough Greenway Trailhead , 8108 Wolf River Blvd, Germantown, TN 38138
Description:
Neighborhood Watch celebrates the small wonders of the Wolf River area through a collection of native plants, insects, stones, and flowers gathered as treasured neighborhood discoveries.
Several elements carry personal meaning, including mimosa blossoms for Katy, Lake Superior agates for Rick, ginkgo leaves for the artist’s children, and cardinal flowers honoring lost loved ones. Others were given personalities and names by the community: Pecker the eastern bluebird, named by five-year-old Germantown resident Will; Alicja the trapdoor spider; and Moob the praying mantis.
The mural also features Gulf fritillary and pipevine swallowtail butterflies alongside native flora including black-eyed Susans, bee balm, goldenrod, wild bergamot, swamp rose, sumac, maple, mimosa, and ginkgo — inviting visitors to slow down, look closer, and “Enjoy the small things.”
This project is funded by the Germantown Public Art Program
